How Moshtix Gets The Word Out

What is Moshtix?
Moshtix is an electronic ticketing company that provides ticketing for venues and events via a
self service website, retail outlets and a national phone booking line.

How does moshtix work as a ticketing company?
Moshtix functions several ways as a ticketing platform, depending on the nature and size of venue.
- You might be scanning your credit card, moshcard or barcode pass through one of our moshscan systems, which we have set-up at the door, or
- Your name might come up on a moshtix-generated door list, but,
- For tickets bought online or over the phone with a credit or debit card you will need to bring
the card to get into the event unless the event is a barcode ticket event in which case your ticket will be emailed to you as a PDF attachment or can be printed directly from your Moshtix account. For tickets bought in a store you will need to bring your Moshcard (for moshcard events there is no barcode on your receipt) or for barcoded events, the barcode receipt ticket.

So How do I make a booking?
With Moshtix, you can book tickets to events online, over the phone, on your mobile at http://moshtix.mobi or over the counter at an associated Moshtix retailer.

Ticket purchases over the internet or by phone, need to be paid via credit card, at the time of booking. Once your payment has been processed, you will be emailed a confirmation of your transaction. Unless your ticket is a 'Print at home' MoshPass Barcode, there is no need to bring your confirmation with you to the event.

Tickets purchased over the counter at Moshtix outlets, will be in the form of 'Moshcard's which are rechargeable ticket holders and look similar to credit cards. Some events will have a barcode also printed on the receipt and this is your ticket, make sure you bring it to the event.

So how do I get into the venue?
MoshScan - Bring card and swipe at venue.

At most medium sized events and venues, the swipe system will be used. This means that you need to bring the Moshcard - if you bought in-store, or the credit card used if you booked over the phone or internet, and have them swiped at the door to gain entry. The Moshtix system will recognise the bookings made on your card at the event entry so it is important that you bring the same card that you used for your purchase. Your purchased is charged to the credit card at the time of purchase, not the card is presented at the event.

back to index

Moshlist - Present card at venue.

For smaller events and venues, there may be a door list whereby the moshcard or credit card used for purchase, needs to be presented and the purchase signed for by the attendee.

back to index

MoshPass - Scan barcode at the venue.

At large festivals and venue's there may be a barcode system in operation. With the barcode system, when you are making your purchase you specify attendee details, and will be emailed a PDF ticket that you must print (online and phone bookings) or you will leave the store with a receipt that includes a printed Moshtix barcode. You have two options with the barcode system, either to receive an all in one barcode, which will admit all attendees with one scan, or you can specify each attendee's details, and each attendee will receive their own individual barcode so you can arrive at different times. You can also log into your moshtix profile and specify attendees after your purchase is complete if you're not sure who's coming with you yet, although the promoter may charge a fee and/or place a limit on the amount of re-issues that can be made to prevent scalping.

What is a moshcard?
A moshcard is given to you if you make a purchase through a moshtix store outlet. Apart from looking pretty damn cool! it lets you into the event just like a regular ticket. Better than a regular ticket though it can hold tickets to multiple events, and even better than that if you register it you can NEVER lose your tickets (see below). Think of it like free insurance on your tickets. Registered Moshcards are also in with the chance to win free tickets by subscribing to moshguide.

back to index

Why should I register my moshcard?
Why? If you are holding an unregistered moshcard, you are holding it back from reaching its full potential. If your card is unregistered, and you turn up at the event without it, we have no way of finding your booking, and you will be disallowed entry to the event. An unregistered Moshcard is like a paper ticket, if you lose it or forget to bring it to the event, there isn't anything we can do for you.On the other hand, losing a registered moshcard means all you need at the event is some photo ID to get you in.

back to index

Why did the store take my details when I purchased my tickets?
When you buy tickets in store, the system will automatically register the first Moshcard in a series of tickets and you will see the registered card and details printed at the top of your store receipt. This is so that we have a name to link the booking to, in case we need to contact you prior to the event. The other cards will not be registered so your friends can register their own cards online in their own names.

back to index

How do I pass a Moshcard to a friend?
Once a Moshcard is registered, all transactions on that card prior to registration, will always remain linked to the details of the person who initially had the card registered to their profile at the time of purchase. This means that if you 'un-register' a Moshcard from a profile, and then register it to another profile, any ticket bookings prior to the un-registration of the Moshcard will always link back to the original owner, and only the original owner will be able to gain entry at the event if the Moshcard isn't present.

If you would like to pass your ticket onto someone else, then you need to physically give the card to the person that is attending the event (ensure you don't have other tickets also on the card).

back to index

How do I pass a credit card bought ticket to a friend?
There are 2 solutions, the first, and easiest, is that you let the new attendee bring the credit card used for purchase, to the event with them to have it swiped. i.e. Ask your mum/dad if you can borrow the card for the event.

The other option is to complete a Moshtix Credit Card Authorisation Form (click here to download) which will enable the card holder, to nominate someone to gain entry to the event without having the credit card present. You will need Adobe Acrobat to view the download.

How do I re-issue a barcode ticket?
To re-issue a barcode ticket you will need to log into your Moshtix Account. To log in you will need to enter either your email address or mobile phone number on the home page of the Moshtix site. Hit 'go' and enter your password, hit 'go' again and you're in. Under the BOOKINGS tab in the top navigation bar, your tickets will be listed. Hit 're-issue' and change the names and details on the tickets. A new ticket will be emailed to you as a PDF attachment. The ticket can also be printed directly from your Moshtix profile by clicking the 'print' link.

How do I log into my Moshtix account?
To log in you will need to enter either your email address or mobile phone number on the home page of the Moshtix site. Once logged in, the navigation bar at the top of the page will change and you can add or change all your details, and your preference for receiving updates from venues and promoters, and also the moshguide.

How do I buy tickets for someone else?
With moshtix, you can do it. Firstly, if you buy through a store outlet, you moshcard is the ticket, so you can just simply give your moshcard to someone else, as a gift or whatever.

Because there is no paper ticket, for credit card (online or phone) bookings, your credit card, whether you swipe it or sign for it at the door, is your proof of purchase. So in the event that you've booked, but the credit card holder is NOT the one attending the event, the following procedure is in place:

1. Download a Credit Card Authorisation Form (click here to download) or request a form by
sending an email to ticketsupport@moshtix.com.au
2. Fill out this Credit Card Authorisation Form,
3. Photocopy BOTH SIDES of your credit card. You can mask/cross out the middle six digits of the card number for security.
4. Give all these documents to the person who actually IS going to the event, and that person quotes your name (the credit card holder) at the door, and produces these documents.

back to index

What is my CVV number?
The CVV number is employed by credit card companies for extra protection against fraud. It won't appear on any documentation anywhere, except on your card

Visa & Mastercard: Somewhere on the back of your card (usually under the signature strip) is another series of numbers. The CVV number is the last three digits of this number.

American Express: Found on the front of your card, the CVV number is the 4 digits printed above and to right of the embossed card number.

The CVV ensures only the card holder can make a ticket purchase. It's another way moshtix protects you.

Why did I get an unsuccessful purchase?
Insufficient funds? Please check you still have credit.
Did you put spaces in your credit card number? Delete any spaces.
Expiry date incorrect? Type it in as it appears on the card.
If AMEX, did you quote the correct (4 digit) CVV number?

Can I obtain a refund on tickets I have bought?
Unfortunately, there are no refunds for the majority of events unless the event is cancelled or re-cheduled. This is covered in the terms and conditions during purchase and is a standard set by the majority of event promoters as they are holding a place for you and may have missed out on the opportunity to sell this to someone else.

How do I obtain a refund on a cancelled event?
If you purchased on the web, mobile web or the phone using moshtix, then we will automatically issue a refund back to the credit card used for purchase, generally within 7 days of notifying you the event has been cancelled. We will email you a confirmation that your refund has been processed to the email provided when you booked.

If you purchased via a store outlet and received a moshcard or barcoded receipt, please return to the exact outlet you purchased from for a full refund. Please note you must take your moshcard/s and receipt to obtain a full refund, and you will be asked to sign for your refund.
